Waxing

We use strip waxing for all of our waxing treatments, using Just Wax cream wax.

This is a gentle pink cream wax which is designed to grip the hair not the skin, making for a more comfortable wax.

For more sensitive areas we apply a soothing tea tree pre oil to minimise sensitivity and redness of the skin.

After all body waxing a light after wax oil formulated with natural antiseptic tea tree and lavender is applied to soothe, protect and moisturise the skin.

Benefits

  • Waxing lasts longer than shaving because the hair is removed from the root.
  • Regular waxing makes the hair grow slower, sparser and finer.
  • Skin is smoother because the hair is pulled from the root.
  • No nicks or cuts on the skin.
  • No more shaving rash.
  • Waxing is fast and convenient.
Dos & Don’ts Of Waxing

Do exfoliate before & after – As much as waxing helps to remove dead skin cells and ingrown hairs, exfoliation is key. Minimise the chances of ingrown hairs by exfoliating before your wax- this will help remove the layer of dead skin that traps hair from sprouting. The wax will also be able to cling to more hairs, making it even more effective. It is advised to continue regularly skin exfoliation (leave at least 5 days after initial wax) after waxing to keep skin soft and minimise ingrowing hairs.

Do moisturise – Simple yet effective way of maintaining post-wax silky soft skin is by moisturising. Waxing removes the top layer of the epidermis revealing new, softer skin – but simultaneously strips away the skin’s natural oil and moisture. Keeping the skin well hydrated can prevent ingrowing hairs and aid for a better wax treatment. Remember the dryer your skin, the tighter the pores will hold onto the hair.

Don’t use perfumed products straight after waxing. Avoid perfumed deodorant or perfumed products such as body sprays or strong lotions as the chemicals can aggravate the skin and cause soreness. Avoid for at least 48hrs post wax.

Don’t have hot baths or showers or saunas for 48hrs post wax. You can still bath and shower but just have the water cooler. The heat given off from showers, hot baths or saunas can aggravate the skin post-wax, making it redder and more sensitive. Plus, hot water can widen your pores, giving your skin more of an opportunity to break out in infection or ingrown hairs. Avoid swimming for 48hrs post wax as chlorine can be drying on the skin and can cause irritation.

No sunbed sessions for 48hrs pre or post wax.

Don’t go hitting the gym straight after a wax. First and foremost, going to the gym entails wearing tight, air resistant clothing, which will cause friction in the area –  this can lead to redness and irritation. Also, the likelihood of sweating is inevitable so this can give way to bacterial infections. Definitely take 48hrs to let your skin recover before hitting the gym.

Avoid at certain times of the month. Believe it or not, your skin is more sensitive before you get your period. This is caused by lower levels of oestrogen – a study found 42% of women experienced heightened sensitivity.

Intimate Waxing

For intimate waxing we use Vwax

Vwax is a NEW innovative concept into intimate waxing.
Its fast, its virtually painless and its all natural protecting the PH balance of the clients intimate area.
The vegan film wax that does not stick to skin, only hair and it is created for all skin types and hair types.
The way it works is, the wax is manipulated into the skin pushing the hair to stand up on end for the wax to shrink wrap around it ready for extraction… It heats the area to open pores for a minimal virtually painless wax in seconds.

Threading

Threading is a form of hair removal using a cotton thread.

It is then rolled over the areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair from the follicle level.

Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short rows of hair.

This method of hair removal can be used anywhere on the face and can be gentler on the skin then waxing.

Regular threading treatments can over a period of time help to reduce hair regrowth making it finer and sparser.
