Radiofrequency “the contour refiner” Facial
Radiofrequency enables skin tightening and improvement of the skin’s appearance painlessly without post-op downtime of classic surgery applications or other invasive methods. Radiofrequency is a non-invasive way of tightening loose or lax skin around the forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, jawline, jowls but also the area under the chin/neck. This is a great way of reducing fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and improving skin tone and texture as well as dull skin.
Radiofrequency treatments use electrical pulses to heats the dermis (the deepest skin layer) through a handpiece without damaging the epidermis (the top layers of the skin), to stimulate new collagen growth and provide an improvement in skin laxity and appearance, to remodel and enhance dermal density with minimal risks.
Radiofrequency works on the following:
Tissue Retraction:
The generated heat causes local contraction of the collagen fibres immediately tightening the skin to remodel and rejuvenate the previous effects of ageing.
Collagen Formation:
The local fibroblasts stimulate the collagen formation by heating the dermis and it then acts as a new deep foundation for the skin. This produces further delayed tightening, which only becomes evident slowly over the next few months.
Improved Circulation:
Radiofrequency also improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage and provides a better oxygen supply and greater toxin clearance.
How does a radiofrequency facial work?
“Radiofrequency is all about stimulating your own collagen production. During a treatment a machine is used to heat the skin to between 38-40 degrees with radiofrequency, you do feel the heat in the skin but it’s comfortable.”
Is there any other discomfort or downtime involved?
“It takes approximately 30 minutes to treat a whole face and there is no discomfort just the feeling of heat in the skin. There is no downtime – you could easily have a treatment at lunchtime and go out that evening looking amazing!”
What are the benefits and how long do they last?
“You get an immediate tightening of the collagen fibres, so it’s great to do before an event, but it also gives a long-lasting lift and increased volume. It also continues to promote collagen production over the four-six weeks following treatment.” The effects of radiofrequency treatments will continue to improve over the next few months as the skin produces new collagen. Results typically last for a minimum of six months, although with ongoing treatments, results are often long-lasting.
Can radiofrequency help reduce lines and wrinkles?
“It’s great for softening fine lines – especially the nose to mouth lines – as well as lifting the cheeks and tightening the jawline, so it’s great for age prevention.”
Who are radiofrequency facials best suited to?
“Anyone experiencing loss of firmness and dullness in their skin. As well as collagen production, it also boosts oxygen levels in the skin, so it’s great for general radiance.”
